Gallery Semaine du Golfe 2007/9

Random snapshots of Semaine du Golfe 2007/9

(Had to miss 2011, worse luck!)

Queue for  Registration and Crew Packs

Launching at Lamor Baden

Free taxi to and from moorings.  (No VHF to call 'em up? Just wave your arms about!)
The bloke at the front looks a bit worried!

Interpreters pour les Anglais
(......et les Allemands, Hollandais, Italiens, Espagnols etc)

Louise the interpreter. Smiling in French .

Sighting of one of the first  BayRaiders - already out in front!

Lamor Baden car wash.

Queue for launching. Rigging on the street to save time. (No over head wires?)

The queue gets longer! Pays to arrive early.

Waiting for a lift out to the mooring.

Careful now!
(Have long mooring warps and fenders available in case of need.)

Have you seen my little dog? He has my husband with him.

Against the tide race.........

.....and five minutes later.....  (I pays to keep an eye on the tide!)

Attention! C'est les Flic !  Helpful Police safety boats.

Flot. 6  (Workboats)   - putting in for more beer.

Free food.......

.........for all!

Still they come!   Launching continued  until dark.

Rafting up on a mooring buoy was not uncommon the first night.

No. It's not the massed bands of the OGA trailer section.

At Vannes they had pop music.

Traditional Breton music and dance .

What's that? He dyed his hair grey to match the rest of Flotilla 3!

Strewth! They've eaten the lot!

Tide's out.  A couple of Bars were equally dry - but only for an hour or two.

Busy Taxis! (All volunteers.)

Flotilla 3 moorings

'Otel Vango.

Stopped for lunch.

Lunch!      Moules Frites et Chablis! (Had to pay for this one. Worth every euro!)
After lunch .    Beats me how I got there before the BayRaiders!

Luckily, its almost neaps.

Waiting for BayRaiders to crawl back from the Bar!

Four Norse Boats - one mooring line.

Musical (but only just) pedallo welcomes Flot 3 to Vannes.

Squeezed in at Vannes.  Even the sky was crowded - press helicopters!

Flotilla 2 . Small, slow and EVERYWHERE!

This Raid had Vikings!

Plenty to see "off piste"

Vannes dock, emptied of  its usual occupants ready for the visitors.  (Lock gates keep the water in at low tide. Check the tide tables if you want to leave before the rush to get home.)

Dress Code?  Smart casual, I think.

Friendly bunch in the Morbihan. Even the dog was pleased to see us.

Bridge at Auray. No need to check the air draught!

Jeff's "Rhiannon" pulling out .  (Homebuilt BayRaider 20)

Ah! You use elastic to keep it up?
Yeah. Used to stay up by its self but sort of loosened up with age.

Paint job still perfect after a busy week.

Claus admires the workmanship. (The tabernacle and mast crutch were non-standard.)

Swallow Boats always pull a crowd.

I think Claus is in there somewhere.
